Obituary of William P. Bootie

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William Patrick Bootie, 75, of North Brookfield passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2023, with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born February 29, 1948, in Utica, a son of the late Kenneth William and Frances Evelyn (Kelly) Bootie.  Bill graduated from Madison Central School in 1967 and enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during Vietnam.  On July 1, 1972, he was united in marriage to Diane Suppe, sharing over 50 years of love and devotion.  After 33 years of dedicated work, he retired from Hanson Aggregates in Oriskany Falls.  Bill was devoted to his family and a respected member of the community.  He was the kind of man who never sat idle and could fix or build just about anything.  His days were filled with tasks and chores and enjoying his many hobbies, including passing on the secret to his granddaughter of cooking chicken for the annual family barbeque.  He was the proud owner of a 1970 Roadrunner Superbird and was working on its restoration. He enjoyed NASCAR and stockcar races and was a model train enthusiast. His memberships included the Winged Warriors National B-Body Owners Association, Utica & Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, Town of Brookfield Historical Society, North Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, and Waterville American Legion Post #92.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Diane; his daughter and her partner, Katherine Bootie and John Barroncini of Vernon Center; his son Raymond Bootie and beloved granddaughter Peyton Bootie of Oriskany Falls; two brothers, Michael and Kathy Bootie and John Bootie all of Pennsylvania; a sister Michele Bootie of Oneida; sisters-in-law Debora Day of Maryland and Lynn Neff and her husband Randy of Pennsylvania; and many beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Robert Bootie; and sister Vivian Fuller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Thursday, March 30, 2023, at St. Bernard’s Church, Waterville.  Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 3-8pm on Wednesday at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton.  He will be buried in North Brookfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Bill’s memory to the North Brookfield Fire Department, North Brookfield Town Park, St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church of Waterville, or Utica & Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
