Obituary of Elizabeth Woodward

Elizabeth “Betty” L. Woodward, 86, of Deansboro, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, NY.

Betty was born in Ilion, NY, to the late Charles and Alberta (Mills) Engalls. She graduated from Ilion High School in 1952 and began her career in nursing attending Faxton School of Nursing. She worked for many years at Faxton Hospital and she finished her career at Harding Nursing home in Waterville. One fateful day in 1957 at the hospital she met the love of her life Bill “Woody” Woodward and they shared a loving union of over 65 years. She was a member of the Barton Hose Company Women’s Auxiliary and a member of the Deansboro Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, golfer, she was an amazing cook, and she always enjoyed a good read. She was a loving wife, mother, gram, and great gram.

Betty leaves behind her children, Kim Hughes, Deansboro, Dana Champion, Deansboro, Dan and Wendy Woodward, Waterville, Steven Woodward, Deansboro, Kenneth and Peta Woodward, Australia, in-laws, Arthur and Laurie Woodward, Florida, Marcia Gaffney, Sacketts Harbor; grandchildren, Jessie, Tempe, Amos, Chelsea, Nicholas, Seth, Patrick, Sean, Steven, Stephanie, William, Charlie; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Woodward; son, William Woodward; son-in-law, Gary Hughes; daughter-in-law, Denise Woodward; brother-in-law, John Gaffney; and sister-in-law Jackie Woodward.

All are invited to her graveside service on Saturday, October 21, 2023, 11am at Deansboro Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 65 years.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville for the wonderful care that they gave to both of their parents.
