Obituary of Helen Hubbard

Helen Teresa Hubbard passed on to her reward May 18, 2018. She was born in Watertown, New York on May 21, 1928, the daughter of Antal & Helen Schwarckopf. She was married to Donald Hubbard for 57 years and they resided in Westmoreland, New York for 55 years.  Donald predeceased his wife in June 2008.   Subsequently, Helen lived in Keene, New Hampshire and Beacon, New York.  Helen wanted it known that she and Donald had a great life raising their children and living in the Westmoreland /Clark Mills Community, surrounded by caring people. 

Surviving Helen are five children – two daughters and three sons: Teresa Tercero and her partner Stanley Hicks, Suisun City, California; Aimee and her husband Thomas LaBarr, Beacon, New York; Timothy and his wife Alisa, South Bend, Indiana; Scott, Marlboro, New York; David and his wife Desereé, Keene, New Hampshire.  Helen has two living siblings: Matilda Smith (husband Everett) and William Schwarckopf (wife Virginia).  There are four predeceased siblings: Margaret Schwarckopf, Elizabeth Helmitsie (husband Gene), Anthony Schwarckopf (wife Ann), and Joseph Schwarckopf (wife Irene).Grandma was proud of her 14 wonderful grandchildren: Cristina and Jerica Tercero; Stephen, Lillian, Vincent, Thomas, Isabella, Philip, and Maureen Hubbard; Maria and her husband Kevin Enright; Rebecca and her husband Jody Passmore and Jennifer and her husband Martin Scoon; Madeline and Ainsley Hubbard. Great-Grandma was also blessed by Tyler, Allyson, Karissa, John, Jerome and Irene.

With her husband, Helen had great respect for all the military but felt a particularly strong bond with the 10th Mountain Division based in Watertown with whom Donald had served in World War II.  Together, they were also active members of the Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills, for over 50 years. There, they were members of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and The Alter and Rosary Society. They also volunteered as teachers of religious instruction. Helen was a talented and creative crafts person whose designs were published in nationwide periodicals. She derived a great deal of pleasure and inspiration selling her work at Central New York craft shows. She also dedicated her time to community organizations such as the Cub Scouts of America, 4-H, and the PTA.

Calling hours will be at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton NY on Friday, May 25 from 4-6 PM.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills, NY.  Entombment will be in Holy Trinity Mausoleum immediately following the Mass.
