Alfred L. Benson Jr., 90, of Westmoreland Road, died October 29, 2016 at the Presbyterian Home. He was born August 29, 1926, in Walesville on the family farm, the son of Alfred L. and Leilah (Peck) Benson. On November 22, 1945, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Mallory. First and foremost, Al was a farmer from birth. He worked the family farm for many years. He then worked at Baker's Greenhouses and retired from the Masonic Home, after which, he enjoyed working at Whitesboro Limo. He was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church, a Mason with the Oriskany Lodge, a Boy Scout Council Representative and Boy Scout Leader for many years. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Kathryn; his daughter Ruth and Bill Younghanz of Whitesboro; two sons Leonard and Linda Benson of Monroeville, PA and Raymond Benson and Patricia of Bouckville; eight grandchildren, Edward Younghanz of Whitesboro, David and Melissa Younghanz of New York Mills, Sara Benson and fiancé Clayton Burdick of Mt. Vision, Raymond and Marc Benson both of Bouckville, Alexandria, Drake and Tomas all of Bouckville; a great-granddaughter Kathryn Burdick; three step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Ronald Younghanz. All are invited to call Wednesday from 4-7pm and stay for the funeral service at 7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Burial at Westmoreland Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please consider the needs of the family or a charity of your choice.
