Paul Van Etten, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Clinton, NY on Thursday, May 26, 2016. The son of Samuel and Anne (Brazaitis) Van Etten, Paul was born in Muskegon, MI on March 17, 1934. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Electrical Engineering at Tri State Engineering College, Indiana. He was an Engineer at Farnsworth Electronics, Ft. Wayne, IN, a Radar Engineer at General Electric, Hartford, CT and General Electric, Utica, NY. He then worked as a Radar Engineer, Rome Laboratory at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY, from where he retired. He received many Certifications and Patents for his works, some unclassified and some still classified. Paul was a Ham radio buff and enjoyed Genesee Beer with friends and neighbors. The weekly Texas Hold 'Em card games will never be the same without Paul. Paul was father of Teresa Van Etten, Whitesboro, NY, Virginia Van Etten of Utica, NY and Alan Van Etten of Forestport, NY. His beloved grandsons David P. Testa and Evan F. Testa, Utica, NY. Surviving also are his brothers: Col. William D. Mol (ret.) and wife Betty, Austin, TX and brother James Richard Van Etten & wife Lynne, Wofford Hts., CA. as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Patricia Joan (Barbknecht) Van Etten. Also, he was predeceased by his brothers Samuel Van Etten, John Van Etten, Eugene Van Etten and his sister MaryAnne Van Etten. A memorial gathering will be held in Paul's backyard, by the fire pit, at a later date.
