Obituary of Roberta A. Perez

Roberta A. Perez, 79, of New St., passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Clark Mills on July 10, 1929 to Dr. Harold D. and Helen Dougherty Sehl. Roberta grew up in Clark Mills and graduated from New Hartford High School. On November 17, 1951 she was united in marriage to Ramon G. Perez at Our Lady of Lourdes. She had a varied work career and recently retired in 1994 from Hamilton College music library a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of St. Marys Church, Clinton. Roberta was an avid reader and crocheted many afghans. She loved to watch the birds at her feeders, especially the hummingbirds. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ray; her two sons and three daughters, Brian Perez of Bridgewater, Donna (David) Payne of Clinton, Bruce Perez of Whitesboro, Amy Perez and her fianc Scott Wright of Vernon Center and Lynn and Jerry Smith of Utica; her three granddaughters, Jessica Kalif and her husband Jeremy, Abigail Payne and Meghan Perez; and she was looking forward to the birth of her great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Eileen Scher of CA, Harold and Ann Sehl of Rome, Daniel B. Sehl of Clinton and Nona M. Sehl of Utica; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws; her former daughter-in-law, Sharon Perez and her beloved feline companion Cristabel. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Sehl in 1992. Funeral services will be held at 9:15am Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Owens-Pavlot Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton and 10am at St. Marys Church, Clinton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
