Obituary of Isabelle Thurston

Isabelle Toots Thurston, 93, a longtime resident of Brimfield St., passed away Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Martin Luther Nursing Home. She was born in Franklin Springs, on May 17, 1915, a daughter of Gifford and Isabelle ONeil Timian. On November 29, 1934, she married Harold W. Mickey Thurston. Mr. Thurston died April 5, 2001. Isabelle was a hairdresser at Ace Beauty Shop and retired from Clinton Coiffures in 1993. She attended St. Marys Church and was a dedicated volunteer at the Lutheran Homes for many years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Barbara Thurston of Vernon Center; a daughter, Joanne Baye of Westmoreland; her granddaughter Nicole Lackey of Deansboro; great-grandchildren, Evanne Danielle, Carl Thomas, Clayton John Thurston and Colden MacIntyre Lackey; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter Danielle A. (Diedi) Thurston in 1989, her three brothers, Gordon, Gifford and Robert Timian, her two sisters Mary Mather and Blanche Miller. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Owens-Pavlot Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Friends are invited to call Thursday from Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Isabelles memory to Dollars for Scholars, Diedi Thurston Fund, PO Box 63, Sherrill, NY 13461. The family would like to thank the special nurses and staff of the Valleycrest unit for the care given to Isabelle.
