Nathan Meyer Jr, 87, passed away December 14, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
He was born in Lockport, NY, on June 15, 1930, a son of the late Nathan and Hazel (Swift) Meyer. Nate served his country in the United States Air Force in Germany during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Reigle on February 24, 1956. They shared 61 years of devotion and friendship. Nate retired from General Electric after 35 years as an engineer.
Nate was very active in his community serving as a member with the Clinton Lions Club, Assistant Leader for Boy Scout Troop Pack 89, Clinton Bush League Baseball coach, and was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and active in the Men's Club and Finance Committee. He also served as the director of the Kirkland Senior Center for 10 years, where he enjoyed shooting pool. In his free time, Nate also enjoyed bowling and golfing, but he enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis; his six children and their spouses, Lance and Bonnie Meyer of Marcy, Laura Meyer Centolella of DeRuyter, Lee and Patricia Meyer of Bakersfield, VT, Ross and Karen Meyer of Madison, Linda and Todd Morris of Westmoreland and Joan and Carl Danowski of Loveland, OH; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers James Meyer and Samuel Meyer and his wife Judy, both of Akron, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Clinton United Methodist Church. All are invited to call Saturday at the church from Noon until 2pm with the service to follow at 2pm. A spring burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Clinton.
